Suzanne Ciani : buchla

A pioneer of the early synthesizer culture that developed in California in the late sixties and early seventies, Ciani was one of very few women artists in the then male-dominated nascent world of electronic music. Her performances since then have often used the Buchla modular synthesizer. Developed in the late sixties by her then boyfriend Don Buchla in competition to the Moog, it’s distinctive sound has created the basis of compositions that invoke landscape and connect the very beginnings of the electronic era to its most recent times.
